Fraga’s Cafe Restaurant

We just had a great lunch at Igloo Roadhouse, Buxton, and was on our way back to Melbourne. We stopped by Fraga’s Cafe Restaurant at Marysville for coffee and desert. Fraga’s Cafe Restaurant has been around for more than 10 years. You may have heard about the Black Saturday bushfire in Australia on February 7, 2009 that wiped out this town and may be interested to read how this cafe recovered here.

You may choose to sit outside and enjoy the country breeze or choose to be inside the warm and cozy cafe. The interior was nicely decorated with artistic frames and mosaic designs. We were there during the long weekend (Queen’s Birthday) and the place was packed. It took awhile for the staff to clean the tables and get our orders.

We ordered our regular coffee. Mine was Flat White (Left, $3.5), Ms. L. recently switched to Cappuccino (Middle, $3.5) and Lil’ M. with her Babyccino (Right, Free-of-Charge surprisingly). The coffee here is made from locally roasted fair-trade beans, Great Divide Coffee.

Ms. L. ordered the Banoffee Pie with Ice-Cream ($6.5). The banoffee pie was really good. Actually, I don’t have any comparisons as I have not tried any banoffee pie in Australia, and it was different from what we had in Malaysia. Recently, while browsing through the Marysville Tourism website, this Aunty Maria’s Banoffee Pie was mentioned. No wonder it was that good!

The main street where restaurant, cafe and bakery are located is just a short stretch and we found that Fraga’s Cafe Restaurant was the most appealing one for a coffee break. We almost had lunch here and had browsed through their lunch menu and specials, which looked really good … next trip … if time permits! This town is recovering and I would like to echo what was mentioned on the Marysville Tourism website, ” … a visit to the region is a great way of supporting the recovery process … “.
